No photos implies disliking

Anime. The only thing I know is about guys with weird haircuts and lots of buttons. I always link anime with “Eurocentro”, a trend place in Santiago’s downtown. Well, I can’t be unfair. I have seen anime too. My favorites were “Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac” and “Dragon Ball”.

Come on! I made profits with “Dragon Ball”. I sold photocopies with character’s pictures. I don’t remember its Price, but it was a good cost for a kid. I hope that Akira Toriyama –or whatever is his damn name– don’t read this.

Definitely I liked violence. In addition, Anime has something like soap opera. People crying, suspense, misery, disease. Jesus! I was morbid kid in front of TV. Well, I wasn’t so bad. I admired the heroes from those programs. I wanted to produce a freaking  Kamehameha.

I also have my story with “Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac”. How many figures did I have! But there was a figure for I disturbed to my parents very much: a Knight of Zodiac, Bandai trademark. I wanted “Aquarius Golden Knight” (yes, you’re right! I’m Aquarius!), but it wasn’t at the store. So, I had to satisfy with Scorpio. Sniff!

For peace of anime fans, I didn’t gain money with Seiya and his friends. In fact, I made my parents throw their money to the trash.

Despite the fact that I don’t like anime currently, I cannot forget that it made me happy. When I was a child I enjoyed with those dramatic adventures. These cartoons define my generation. All of us dreamt with throwing a big ball of light. I will always remember the ground plastic at the floor of my house.

Don't come by car

I don’t like cars. I’m not excited by bikes. So, I love (I don’t have chance) public transportation. People should use this transportation. In Chile, many jerks use the car with anybody else. The logic of Chileans is “one guy, one car”.

I don’t belong to any eco-organizations (I’m using “I don´t” expression a lot. It seems I’m negative). Is it necessary belonging to eco-organization to care about the environment? Thanks! I don´t want a “green guy card”. When I was studying agronomy, I always saw trash can so I had the incentive to recycling. Governments should teach to people and they should promote a recycling culture. If every single guy recycles, this activity will have effect. It will be successful.

The famous carbon footprint, our next threat. The nightmare which scare (I was scared too) the people who work in agricultural issues. “If you pollute, we don’t buy your fruit”. Now I am out of agronomy I don´t think in that ghost. But I always walk a lot therefore I guess that my carbon footprint decrease.

No more agronomy. I love Santiago. I respect my city. I will stay in this town. I think that lovely Santiago had very little green areas. Definitely, it’s a gray city. More trees, please! Every day is built something and green areas are sacrificed. Where is the responsibility? Santiago is in my heart, but Uncle Sam would say “I want you green”.

Last advice for you stupid car fan. Leave it at home.

Sympathy for the sixties

Please allow me to introduce myself; I’m a man who will talk about music of sixties.

I’m a son of “The Satanic Majesties”, The Rolling Stones. I like these guys because they have a master of the riffs Keith Richards. Songs of “Stones” have lyrics that I like. For example, “Sympathy for the devil” is a song which has a lot of content. Somebody who has been in many times in history, The Devil: “And I was round when Jesus Christ had his moment of doubt and pain” or “I stuck around St. Petersburg. When I saw it was a time for a change. [I] killed the czar and his ministers, Anastasia screamed in vain”. Amazing!

I prefer music from sixties. This music gave a legacy to new musicians. In addition, I think that music of the 60s bridges the gap between me and older people. My mother likes The Beatles and I am on the other side. I am a Rolling Stones’ fan, come on!

Another band that I like is The Stooges. The band leaded by Iggy Pop launched a disc at the final of 60s. This was called “1969”, the same year of it was launched. The disc is pure dynamite. It’s impossible don’t move with it. Of course, it’s the beginning of punk.

Definitely, I would like to be born in 60s. I feel represented by dissatisfaction spirit from sixties. The song of Stones hits the mark: “I can’t get no satisfaction”.

The Guardian says:

Financial Times raises cover price to £2.50”. That’s the title of a new from The Guardian website. This note is in the “Media” section and it says about price of Financial Times (FT) newspaper will be increased.

Thereby, FT will cost £2.50. The guardian also reports that Financial Times had increased its price already in October. At that time, the cost of the economic newspaper increased since £2 to £2.20. Therefore, the last rise was equal to 30p.

Additional information is weekend Financial Times edition will cost £3, due the fact that it increased 20 p. The new price will start to rule from January 7.

The Guardian also says about itself. The website reports about the rise of The Guardian daily. This rise had happened in September of 2011 and its new price is £1.20 since then. Also, the article informs about The Daily Telegraph situation. The price of that newspaper will be £1.20 too.

The website of The Guardian puts a quote of a spokeswoman for Financial Times. She states that increase is because two points. Firstly, FT’s production and distribution cost increased. Secondly, she says that investment made in quality of contents, so FT’s cost increases.

Champagne & Reefer

Muddy Waters said in a song “Yeah bring me champagne when I'm thirsty. Bring me reefer when I want to get high”. I agree with that, so I would like to visit Netherland. I think that country has liberal politics in moral issues, for example marijuana consumption. It’s a very different experience so visiting Netherland is a challenge.

It’s interesting how that country take the prostitution topic and it puts the subject in order. In fact, in Amsterdam there is a red light district. I’m not interested in going with a prostitute, but I consider that people which want to go, have the right to do it. They have the freedom to decide, I believe in that.

I would like to visit a coffee shop. I think that the marijuana consumption should be allowed. I insist, every single person of this planet have the power to decide about themselves. It would be a luxury smoking in an established place without a weight of the law.

I don’t know if I’d like to study there. I like Chile, but I can say one thing: if reside in Netherland helps me to learn English (it is not the official language) I would like to do it.

No country for goodfellas

"Call it, friendo". "F*ck you, pay me". These two quotes belong two movies that I like very much, No Country for Old Men (Coen Brothers) and Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese) respectively. I don`t know what is the best -Come on! I'm forgetting Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola)- but I can say that I've seen their a lot of times.

Both films are about crime and illegal activities. There are powerful characters, people who can do anything and they don’t receive punishment. That’s I like, because despite they are criminals, this guys are free. They are wiseguys. I would recommend to anybody who wishes freedom.

I watched Coen’s movie at cinema in 2008. Obviously, I saw Goodfellas in DVD, but I’ve seen them through Cuevana website. Great success! Thanks Cuevana, because I can watch lots of movies since my house. I go to the cinema when I think there is a good movie really. Thanks Cuevana because I don’t have to download movies anymore. And thanks Cuevana because I don’t have to rent films. What the hell is Blockbuster?

Movies rules, they are better than Chilean TV. However, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations of Travel & Living Channel is a cool TV show. Therefore, a movie about my life should be a mix of travel and mafia. I would like that, for real!

Ashtray with water

Summer: time to begin the new term. Time to sweat inside the classroom. It's time to think about my projects in middle of warm city. It's also time to study with a beer in my desk. Many people claims against the beginning of this term, but I have some ideas to do it special.

I study journalism in Campus Juan Gomez Millas of Universidad de Chile. I am taking subjects which make me think a lot, for example semiology or contemporary visual culture, so my head will sweat very much surely. That's why I expect that "El Cenicero" (The Ashtray) to be filled with water.

Probably, it will make us feel better for studying during summer. This term will be special, Santa Claus will pass for every single classroom to give us presents, therefore I feel better. I just regret that I won't pass my birthday in an aflout ashtray.
